VICTORIA - West Coast (Gothenburg)

The Victoria is a fascinating wreck, especially considering her relatively shallow depth. We love how accessible she is, just seven metres down, making her a perfect choice for extended bottom times and really soaking in the atmosphere. She’s an old steamship, sunk way back in 1894 after a collision, and you can still make out her bow and stern sections, even if the midship has collapsed a fair bit. What really makes Victoria special for us is the way nature has reclaimed her. The metal is completely encrusted with an amazing tapestry of plumose anemones, dead man's fingers, and colourful sponges. We often see lobsters peeking out from the wreckage and crabs scuttling across the deck plates. Keep an eye out for the small shoals of pollack that dart in and out of the darker spaces. It’s not a dive for big pelagics, but for macro life and historical intrigue, Victoria is our absolute favourite in the area. She’s ideal for photographers or divers who appreciate a more relaxed pace and a chance to really explore a piece of history. Dive her on a calm day; the visibility can be excellent then.
