BLU ARGENT - Cornwall & Devon

The Blu Argent is a relatively modern wreck off the coast of Cornwall, a 12-meter yacht that went down in 2010. We love how quickly she's become part of the seabed. Descending onto her, you’re greeted by a flurry of common wrasse and pollock darting between the mast and the cockpit, almost as if they're still sailing her. She's upright and mostly intact, settled in around 30 meters, which makes for a brilliant dive if you're comfortable with that depth. You can poke around the wheelhouse, peer into the cabins, and often find conger eels tucked into any available crevice. The current here can pick up, so we always suggest timing your dive for slack water. It's a proper adventure, a real piece of recent maritime history that's now a buzzing home for local marine life.

Wreck History - BLU ARGENT

Year Sunk
2010
Vessel Type
yacht
Cause
unknown

The yacht Blu Argent foundered on April 4, 2010, in the waters off Cornwall. In a successful rescue operation, its crew of four was airlifted to safety by a Coast Guard helicopter with assistance from the Yarmouth Lifeboat. The wreck now sits at a depth of 0 meters, meaning parts of its hull or superstructure are visible above the water's surface, depending on the tide.

This modern wreck offers a unique opportunity for snorkelers and kayakers to explore a submerged structure without needing full scuba gear. It serves as a stark and recent reminder of the sea's power, and observers can see firsthand how quickly the marine environment begins to reclaim a vessel. For divers, it's an unusual shallow site to investigate the anatomy of a contemporary yacht.
