CARROUEST ONE (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

Carrouest One. What a name, eh? Immediately sparks that sense of discovery, which is exactly what diving this wreck feels like. She’s sitting at 36 metres, a proper deep dive, so this isn't one for your first foray into UK wreck diving. We're talking about a wreck foundered two miles south of Alderney, officially classified as 'dangerous', which for us, just adds to the allure. Descending onto Carrouest One, the first thing you notice is the way the light filters through the green water, catching on the skeletal remains of her superstructure. Visibility can be a bit variable here, so we always suggest checking local reports; a good day makes all the difference. We love how the wreck has been completely reclaimed by the sea. Think big conger eels snaking through collapsed compartments and the occasional curious pollack eyeing you from a shadowed doorway. Exploring the Carrouest One is less about penetration and more about appreciating the slow decay, the way the metal has buckled and twisted over time. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and the quiet beauty of a wreck merging back into the seabed.
