CINQ FRERES - Cornwall & Devon

The Cinq Freres, a trawler that went down in '72 after hitting a wartime wreck, is one of our favourite dives off the Cornish coast. We particularly love the feeling of exploring a proper, working boat, now completely given over to the sea. You can still make out the superstructure, the wheelhouse, even some of the fishing gear if you look closely. It’s a dive that really connects you to the area’s maritime history. Expect to find plenty of crabs tucked into every crevice, dogfish resting on the sand nearby, and conger eels peeking out from pipes. The visibility can be variable, as is typical for the UK, but on a good day, the light filtering through the green water gives the wreck a wonderfully eerie glow. We always try to time our dive for slack water to get the best exploration time without fighting a current. This site is brilliant for divers who appreciate wreck penetration and enjoy piecing together a story underwater.
