CORINNA - Cornwall & Devon

The Corinna, a motor vessel that ran aground in a gale back in ‘85, is one of those sites we always come back to in Cornwall. She’s shallow, just 5 metres, which makes for long bottom times and surprisingly good light on a sunny day. We love how accessible she is, perfect for a relaxed dive, even if you’re newer to wreck diving. The wreck itself is pretty broken up, scattered across the rocks where she met her end. But don’t let that put you off; the way the pieces are spread out creates loads of nooks and crannies. You’ll spend your dive poking around twisted metal plates and sections of hull, watching the light play through the kelp. It’s not about penetration here, it’s about the atmosphere. Our favourite spots are where the larger sections of the engine room lie, offering shelter for conger eels – we’ve seen some absolute monsters tucked away in there. Look for dogfish resting on the sand patches too, and the usual suspects like blennies and wrasse darting between the rusty bits. It’s a proper British wreck dive, full of character and life, but without the teeth-chattering cold or extreme depths.
