CORSAIRE - Cornwall & Devon

The Corsaire, a small fishing vessel intentionally scuttled as part of Operation Mellick, sits upright at 57 metres. It’s a proper deep dive, so you need the training and gas for it. We love these purpose-sunk wrecks because they quickly become artificial reefs, and the Corsaire is no exception. Descending onto her, you’ll find her compact hull covered in plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying gently in the subtle current. Shoals of bib often hover above the deck, scattering as you approach, and we’ve seen conger eels peering out from beneath her collapsed wheelhouse. Exploration here is intimate rather than extensive; she’s only 8.2 metres long. You can circumnavigate the entire vessel in a single pass, appreciating how marine life has completely reclaimed her. For photographers, the Corsaire offers a fantastic deep wreck subject, especially if you can time your dive with good visibility, which, let’s be honest, is always a bit of a gamble in the UK. We’d suggest keeping an eye on the tides for slack water to get the best out of her. It's a dive for those who appreciate the quiet beauty of a small wreck and the surprising amount of life it supports.
