DEENES - Cornwall & Devon

The Deenes, off the coast of Cornwall, is more than just a wreck, it’s a living history lesson, though she sits at a depth that means only a small portion of the hull is still visible. We love this site for its character. This old carrier has been down for ages and what’s left of her structure has really been taken over by the sea. Expect to fin around remnants of her hull and superstructure, which are now fantastic hideouts for lobsters and conger eels. We've seen some impressive schools of bib and pollack here too, darting through the rusted metal. It’s a great dive for those who appreciate the slower pace, the quiet observation of how nature reclaims its own. Head out on a calm day; the visibility can be a bit changeable, but when it’s good, the light reflecting off the sandy seabed around the wreck really brings out the colours on the encrusted steel.
