DINARD (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The Dinard, oh, the Dinard. This isn't a dive for the faint of heart, but for those who love a proper wreck with a story, she’s a standout. Sunk by a mine just after D-Day, you can almost feel the history as you descend into the green Cornish depths. We love how intact she is for a wreck of her age and fate. You'll find yourself navigating through surprisingly well-preserved sections, the bow still points purposefully, and there are nooks and crannies everywhere just begging for a torch beam. Her structure provides fantastic shelter, so expect to see conger eels peering from every dark hole, their thick bodies surprisingly relaxed as you pass. The deck plating, now softened by a carpet of jewel anemones, shimmers under your light. Keep an eye out for dogfish tucked into the sand nearby; they often seem to treat the wreck as their personal hideout. Our favourite time to dive the Dinard is on a calm, slack tide, giving you the maximum bottom time to really absorb the atmosphere and explore the intricate details of her demise. This is definitely one for experienced divers comfortable with deeper wrecks and the often-moody visibility of the UK.
