EDEN FORCE - Cornwall & Devon

The Eden Force wreck, sunk in a collision back in 1940, sits in a forgiving 10 metres of water. We often recommend this site for newer wreck divers because of that shallow depth. It’s a broken-up steamer, scattered across the seabed, but you can still pick out the ribs of the hull and the boiler. It’s not one of those intact wrecks you swim through, but rather a proper archaeological scramble. What we love about the Eden Force is how the local marine life has completely taken over. You’ll find walls of plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying with the gentle surge, and dead man’s fingers clinging to every surface. Crabs are everywhere, scuttling amongst the plates, and often we spot dogfish tucked into the sand nearby. Our favourite part is navigating through the larger sections of scattered steel, feeling that history beneath your fingertips. It’s a tangible piece of the past, softened by decades of ocean life, and an ideal spot for a relaxed dive when the conditions are calm. Keep an eye on the tides here; slack water gives you the best chance to properly explore without too much push and pull.
