EDIRNE - Cornwall & Devon

We’ve spent a lot of time poking around Cornish wrecks, and the Edirne always leaves an impression. She’s a big steamship, sitting upright in about 48 metres, which means this is definitely one for the more experienced trimix crowd. Dropping down onto her bow, you’re often greeted by dense shoals of pouting, so thick they almost obscure the deck. The real beauty here is her sheer scale and the way the sea has reclaimed her. Her holds are open, offering dark, cavernous spaces to explore – just remember your torch and good buoyancy. We love picking our way through the superstructure, seeing the huge winches and steering gear, all now encrusted with colourful jewel anemones. Keep an eye out for conger eels tucked into every dark crevice; they’re often massive here. The Edirne is a proper deep dive, demanding respect, but for those with the training, she’s a genuinely rewarding experience, a powerful testament to the sea’s relentless power.
