F/V Joanna C - Cornwall & Devon

The F/V Joanna C, resting at 23 metres, is a relatively new wreck off the coast of Cornwall, but it’s already got a fantastic buzz about it. We were there not long after she went down in 2020, and even then, the wreck felt like a proper home for sea life. It’s a fishing vessel, broken into a few sections, which makes for some interesting swim-throughs if you know where to look. You can poke around the wheelhouse, which is still largely intact, and peer into the hold. Inside, we’ve spotted conger eels, tucked into the darker corners, their heads poking out. The sheer amount of fish around the wreck is what makes it for us – schools of pouting and bib dart between the structure, with wrasse picking at the growing soft corals. The stern section, in particular, has become a real hotspot for anemones. It’s a cracking dive for anyone who enjoys exploring a modern wreck that’s quickly becoming an artificial reef. Keep an eye on the current here; it can pick up, so we’d suggest timing your dive for slack water.
