FAST FLOW - Cornwall & Devon

Fast Flow is one of those sites we always recommend to newer divers who want to experience a wreck, but without the depth. It’s a bit like a playground, really. This motor vessel sits in a shallow, sheltered bay, often less than 4 metres deep, and the current description as a "dangerous wreck" is more about its history than its present state. We love poking around its broken remains, the engine block is still pretty intact, and the propeller shaft is easy to spot. The metalwork, heavily encrusted with dead man's fingers and colourful jewel anemones, hums with tiny crabs scuttling over every surface. You’ll find blennies peering out from crevices, and small shoals of pollack often cruise through the gaps in the hull. Visibility here can be surprisingly good on a calm day, giving the whole site a luminous quality, especially in the late afternoon. Our favourite tip? Go at high slack tide. It makes exploring the nooks and crannies much easier. Just remember your surface marker buoy, as small boats do use the bay.
