FLORENCE VIVIAN - Cornwall & Devon

The *Florence Vivian* is pure character, a testament to what a small wreck can offer if you know what to look for. We always aim for this site on a calm day, because while it’s shallow – just 1m – surge can really kick things up, making it a frustrating experience if you’re not prepared. Go when it’s flat and the sun’s out, and you’ll find yourself finning over a ghostly outline, the ribs of the old fishing vessel spread across the seabed like a forgotten skeleton. What we love here is the way the light plays on the kelp-covered timbers, creating an eerie, almost ethereal glow. We often spot conger eels tucked into the deeper sections, their heads peeking out from beneath the plates, and the cracks and crevices are home to plenty of wrasse and blennies. It’s a shallow dive that demands attention to detail, perfect for photographers keen on capturing the stark beauty of a wreck reclaimed by the sea.
