FOREMOST 101 - Cornwall & Devon

The Foremost 101, sitting at a shallow 5 metres, is our kind of wreck dive. We love that it’s technically a “dangerous wreck,” though really it’s just a great big, broken-up barge that sank in 1973. We’d suggest hitting it on a calm, sunny day for the best light penetration. Drop down and you’re immediately on top of the jumbled metal, plates, and beams. It feels like swimming through a giant, industrial sculpture garden. Light filters down, bouncing off the sandy seabed and illuminating the rusted structure. You’ll find plenty of inquisitive wrasse darting between the crevices, and big spider crabs sometimes cling to the steel. The sheer scale of the twisted metal is what really grabs you – it’s a site that tells a story of a ship’s final moments without needing a deep descent. It’s perfect for new wreck divers or anyone looking for a relaxed, atmospheric dive.
