G-AYDT - Cornwall & Devon

The G-AYDT site, a small aircraft wreck off the coast of Cornwall, is something we always recommend for a quick, intriguing dive. It’s barely below the surface, sitting at a max depth of 2m, which makes it perfect for a relaxed dip, or even a snorkel on a good day. We love how accessible it is, great for less experienced divers or those looking for a truly shallow exploration. When you drop in, you’ll find the wreck itself is quite broken up, but you can clearly make out parts of the fuselage and wings. It’s a somber reminder of the pilot who was lost here, but the marine life has really taken hold. You’ll spot small crabs scuttling over the metal, and schools of juvenile pollack darting in and out of the crevices. Look closely, and you might even find a curious dogfish tucked away. It’s a remarkably atmospheric spot, even in the shallows. Our advice? Go on a calm day with good sun; the visibility can be excellent then, and the light plays beautifully on the wreckage.
