G-JANG - Cornwall & Devon

G-Jang isn't your typical deep wreck dive, and that's precisely why we love it. This small aircraft, ditched en route to Exeter in 2005, sits in just two metres of water, making it a fantastic, accessible exploration for pretty much anyone. You can snorkel it, free-dive it, or even just paddle out at low tide and peer down. The plane itself is remarkably intact for its age and depth. We’ve spent ages tracing the fuselage, seeing how the cockpit has collapsed, and imagining the pilot's quick exit. What really makes G-Jang special though is the life that’s taken hold. The exposed metalwork is a canvas for sea squirts and anemones, and we always spot blennies darting in and out of the crevices. Look closely under the wings and you might find a velvet crab scuttling about. It’s a gentle reminder of nature’s resilience, even on something so recently man-made. Our advice? Go on a calm, sunny day when the visibility is at its best. The light dancing off the structure is really something.
