GEORGIO BAY - Cornwall & Devon

Georgio Bay is one of those wrecks we keep coming back to. She’s deep, sure, down at 58 metres, but for experienced divers with the right qualfications, she’s worth the descent. This isn't a wreck you’re going to tour in one go; she's big, broken, and spread across the seabed after breaking her tow back in '75. That means a dive here is about picking a section and really getting to know it. We love dropping onto the bridge section, where the superstructure is still quite intact, offering some interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. The real draw, though, is the sheer amount of life that has made a home here. We've seen conger eels that look like tree trunks lurking in the darker recesses, their heads the size of small dogs, and massive ling that drift out of the gloom to check you out. Visibility can be a bit of a lottery, as it often is in the UK, but on a good day, when the sun is piercing the green water, the sight of jewel anemones coating the metalwork in a riot of orange and pink is genuinely spectacular. It's a proper British wreck dive, challenging but immensely rewarding.
