GLEN STRATHALLAN - Cornwall & Devon

The Glen Strathallan isn’t some grand, historic warship. This is a deliberately sunk trawler, sent down in 1970 for the sole purpose of giving divers something interesting to explore. And it absolutely delivers on that promise. At just 12 metres, it’s a brilliant site for newer wreck divers or those looking for an easy second dive. We love that you can take your time here, tracing the hull plates, spotting the remnants of the wheelhouse, and poking around the stern section. Over the decades, the Glen has become a thriving artificial reef. The metalwork is draped in plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying with the gentle surge. Look for feisty velvet swimming crabs tucked into every crevice and common gobies darting between the broken plating. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, the light filters through the kelp growing on the shallower parts, illuminating the structure. We’d suggest going at slack water; it makes navigating the scattered remains much more enjoyable. It’s a proper hands-on wreck, perfect for practicing buoyancy and getting a feel for overhead environments without any real commitment.
