Glen Strathallen - Cornwall & Devon

The Glen Strathallen, sunk deliberately in 1970 as a training wreck, is just fantastic for newer divers. At a comfortable 16 metres, it’s shallow enough for longer bottom times and really allows you to soak in the details. We love dropping down and finding ourselves right on the bow, then slowly finning our way back along the deck. The ship's structure is still largely intact, which means you can poke around in cargo holds and peer into the bridge area. Expect to see quite a few conger eels tucked into the darker recesses, and the decks are covered in plumose anemones, creating these soft, feathery carpets. It’s a great site to practice your wreck diving skills without needing advanced certifications, and the relatively sheltered position often means good visibility, especially on a neap tide. Our favourite part is lingering around the stern, where the prop shaft housing offers some nice swim-through opportunities.
