GLENMORE - Cornwall & Devon

The Glenmore is one of those wrecks we keep coming back to. Sitting just off the coast, she’s a tug that sank back in 1922 while salvaging jute from the Treveal, which is a whole other story. At a mere 4 metres deep, this is a perfect no-decompression dive, suitable for pretty much anyone looking for a relaxed exploration. What we really love about the Glenmore is how accessible she is, even for newer divers getting their fins wet on a wreck. You can trace the outline of her hull, often finding inquisitive wrasse peeking out from beneath plates. The triple expansion engine is a particular highlight, still largely intact and surrounded by kelp that sways with the gentle surge. We’ve spent many an hour just hovering, watching small crabs scuttle across the encrusted metalwork and admiring the light filtering through the water. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, a real piece of history that’s become a home to the local marine life, with butterfish darting between the metal ribs.
