GRATIE GODS (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

Diving the Gratie Gods (Possibly) is a proper journey back in time, and one we always enjoy. This isn't some pristine, intact wreck, mind you. What you get here is the scattered remains of a trawler, sunk by aircraft in 1942. It’s a site for those who appreciate the history as much as the diving. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the way the light filters through the green water, giving everything an ethereal glow. The trawler lies broken across the seabed at 52m, with ribs and plates spread out like forgotten bones. Visibility can be a bit hit or miss, typical for Cornwall, but when it’s good, you can make out the structure and the way the currents have shaped the wreckage over the decades. We’ve found conger eels tucked into the larger sections, their heads poking out from the shadows, and schools of pollack often cruise above the debris. This dive is best suited for experienced divers comfortable with deeper wrecks and keen on exploratory diving. Expect to navigate by feature and really take your time piecing together the story of the wreck on the seabed. It’s not about penetration; it’s about discovery.
