HARRY SHARMAN - Cornwall & Devon

Now, when we talk wrecks, we often think deep, dark, and challenging. The Harry Sharman flips that idea on its head, quite literally. This old tug, stranded back in ‘70, lies practically on the beach at Culver Cliff. It’s a true shore dive, with the stern just barely covered at high tide. We love it because it’s so accessible, a perfect introduction to wreck diving for those still building confidence, or a really relaxed second dive. You’re exploring a metal skeleton here, and the shallow depth means ambient light floods every nook and cranny. Keep an eye out for blennies darting between the plates, and the anemones that have completely encrusted some sections. The prop shaft and boiler are still visible, offering some cool swim-throughs if you’re comfortable with tight spaces. Our favourite time to dive it is on a calm, sunny day, just after high tide starts to ebb – the visibility really sparkles then, and you get a bit more water over the top. It’s an easy entry, just a walk-in from the beach, but do check the tides; it can get very shallow, very fast.
