HAULER - Cornwall & Devon

The Hauler isn't your grand, intact freighter, and that's precisely why we love it. Sunk in '73, then salvaged and dispersed by explosives, what you get now is a gloriously jumbled mess of metal at a breezy 10 metres. It's a proper playground, really. Think twisted plates, girder sections, and scattered debris that form a series of rocky outcrops rather than a defined hull. We’ve spent hours here poking around the nooks and crannies. The light penetrates beautifully, even on a grey day, illuminating the anemones that have absolutely smothered every surface. You'll spot jewel anemones in every colour imaginable, creating these incredible psychedelic carpets. Ballan wrasse are always darting in and out, and we often find dogfish tucked away under the larger pieces of wreckage. It's a fantastic site for newer wreck divers to get comfortable navigating around structure, or for experienced eyes who appreciate the small stuff. Our top tip? Go on a slack tide, the currents can pick up, but when it's still, the visibility often opens right up.
