HAVSORNEN - Cornwall & Devon

The Havsornen isn’t one of those big, imposing wrecks, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm. This yacht went down in 1973 after hitting the breakwater near Cherbourg, and it’s now a lovely, accessible dive for pretty much any diver who’s comfortable in temperate waters. We especially love how light plays on the wreck, filtering through the superstructure, highlighting the colourful anemones and dead man’s fingers that blanket the decks. You’ll find plenty of inquisitive ballan wrasse darting between the ribs of the hull, and if you’re patient, a few plump lobsters peeking out from under plates. The bow offers a bit of penetration for those with the right training, but mostly, it’s a delightful visual exploration. Our favourite time to dive it is on a calm, sunny morning; the visibility really opens up, making the whole site feel brighter and more inviting. It’s a gentle wreck, perfect for a relaxed dive where you can truly appreciate the life that’s made it home.
