HM LCT 427 (AFTER PART) - Cornwall & Devon

The HM LCT 427 (AFTER PART) off the Cornwall coast is an absolute belter for wreck enthusiasts. We love the history here; it’s a piece of D-Day, a landing craft sunk just after Passage Normandy, broken in two by the massive HMS Rodney. You’re not just diving a wreck, you’re touching a moment in time. Dropping down to 28m, the visibility can be variable, but when it’s good, the stern section emerges from the gloom, surprisingly intact in places. The sheer scale is impressive, you can trace the outline of its purpose, imagine those engines that once powered it towards Gold Beach. We often find conger eels tucked into the deeper recesses, and the superstructure is covered in plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying with the gentle surge. It’s a tranquil, reflective dive, perfect for those who appreciate the quiet conversation a wreck can have with the sea. We’d suggest a slack water dive to really take your time exploring the different compartments and soaking in the atmosphere.
