HMS CAMPEADOR 5 - Cornwall & Devon

The HMS Campeador V, a former luxury yacht turned anti-submarine vessel, found its resting place off the Cornish coast in 1940 after hitting a mine. We love diving this site on a calm day, when the visibility opens up, letting you appreciate the sheer size of her. Even after all these years, you can still trace the lines of her hull, often draped in dead man's fingers and colonies of jewel anemones that sparkle under your torch. It's a fantastic wreck for divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a current, which can sometimes sweep through. We've found conger eels tucked into every dark crevice, and the decks are a highway for crabs and lobsters. Look out for pollack hovering above the superstructure. It's a proper British wreck dive, moody and full of character.
