HMS Grenade - Cornwall & Devon

The HMS Grenade is one of those wrecks that really sticks with you. Dropping onto her deck, you immediately get a sense of her scale, even though she’s broken in places. We love how the hull is often draped in kelp, swaying gently in the current, almost like a living camouflage. You’ll spend most of your dive picking through her structure, finning past twisted metal and exposed compartments that hint at her wartime service. Look closely, and you’ll spot plumose anemones clinging to every surface, along with squat lobsters peeking out from behind the plates. Our favourite part is often the stern, where you can sometimes glimpse conger eels lurking in the deeper, darker sections. This isn't a site for beginners; the currents can be strong, and the depth means you need to be comfortable with a bit of a push. But for experienced wreck divers, the Grenade offers a genuinely rewarding dive, full of atmosphere and history.
