HMS INVERCLYDE - Cornwall & Devon

The HMS Inverclyde, a former trawler that saw action as a patrol and minesweeper in WWI, lies at a comfortable 12 metres. We think it’s a brilliant site for newer wreck divers or anyone looking for a relaxed bimble with plenty to see. The Inverclyde sits reasonably intact, and we love how the structure still has a real sense of its past life, even after all these years on the seabed. You can trace the deck, pick out the general outline of the wheelhouse, and imagine the crew working on board. The wreck is nicely broken up in places, offering plenty of nooks and crannies that have become home to lobster, crab, and those cheeky blennies peeking out from every bolt hole. Keep an eye out for dogfish resting on the sand nearby, often tucked right against the hull. The shallow depth means good bottom time, and when the visibility cooperates, it’s a really satisfying dive. We’d suggest going at slack water to get the most out of it, as currents can pick up a bit around here.
