HUMBERGATE (PROBABLY) - Cornwall & Devon

Humbergate (Probably) is exactly the kind of wreck we love: deep, dramatic, and a bit mysterious. Lying at 53 metres, it’s definitely one for the experienced trimix crowd, but the rewards are considerable. We still remember the first time the shape resolved out of the gloom, an upright silhouette on the seabed, perfectly intact. You can fin around the bow, feel the cold flow of the deep current, and look for the stern, often shrouded in a cloud of jewel anemones. The superstructure is particularly fun to explore, with openings that invite a quick peek inside, if you’re comfortable with overhead environments. This isn’t a colourful, tropical dive, but the sheer scale and the sense of history are what make it special. Shoals of bib hang in the wheelhouse like ghosts, and conger eels peer from every crevice. We’ve even spotted a few anglerfish tucked into the sand nearby. It’s a challenging dive, sure, but for those who love deep wreck exploration, Humbergate (Probably) delivers a truly unique experience. Plan for decent bottom time and a good surface support team, and you’ll understand why we keep coming back.
