HUNSGROVE - Cornwall & Devon

Hunsgrove is a wreck that truly tells a story, and for us, that’s its major draw. She’s a decent size at over 100 metres, lying pretty much upright in 53m, so definitely one for the experienced tech divers who appreciate a deeper historical dive. We love the feeling of descent here, dropping into the cool, green Atlantic, knowing you’re heading for a piece of WWI history. When you hit the deck, the scale of her becomes apparent. The torpedo blast that sank her in 1918 is still visible, a crumpled testament to a grim day. Exploring the holds, you often find them filled with shoals of bib and pouting, darting between the decaying metalwork. Our favourite areas are around the bow and stern, where the structure is more complex, offering interesting swim-throughs if you're appropriately trained and cautious. Keep an eye out for conger eels peeking from every dark crevice; they’re often chunky here. Visibility can be a bit variable, but on a good day, with a bit of ambient light filtering down, it’s a genuinely atmospheric dive. The currents can pick up, so planning your slack water window is crucial for a comfortable dive.
