HUNTER WV253 - Cornwall & Devon

The Hunter WV253 isn't a deep dive, sitting at a maximum of 8 meters, but it’s a brilliant shallow wreck for when the weather’s a bit choppy or you just fancy a longer bottom time. We love this site for its accessibility and how quickly it gives up its secrets. This RAF jet, which crashed in '68, is now well-broken, scattered across a rocky seabed, but the distinct shape of the wings and parts of the fuselage are still very clear. You’ll spend your time here weaving through the debris, seeing how the metal has become a home for small crabs scuttling between plates, and the fronds of kelp that have taken root. It’s perfect for newer wreck divers or those looking to practice their navigation skills in a less demanding environment. Our favourite tip? Go on a sunny day; the light penetration really brings out the subtle colours of the encrusting life.
