IASGAIR - Cornwall & Devon

Iasgair might only be a small wooden fishing vessel, sunk in 1995, but we’ve got a soft spot for her. At 15.2 metres, she’s not going to blow your mind with scale, but what she offers is a brilliant example of how quickly nature reclaims things. Dropping onto her deck, you’ll find the wooden hull is now a skeleton, draped in soft corals and anemones. It’s a fantastic site for macro life, especially if you take your time. We always suggest bringing a good torch, even on a bright day. Peer into the remaining nooks and crannies and you'll spot blennies, crabs, and often a cunning little octopus tucked away. While the maximum depth is around 50 metres, the most interesting parts are much shallower, making it accessible for those with less extreme deep diving experience too. Our favourite way to dive it is to spend the first half exploring the main wreck structure, then ascend slowly, taking in the clouds of juvenile fish that often swarm just above the mast. Visibility can be hit or miss in the UK, but when it’s good, Iasgair really shines, offering a calm, contemplative dive that feels a world away from the busy harbour.
