JGENA (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The JGENA, if you can find her (and that's part of the fun in the Needles Channel), isn't about huge structural integrity. She’s a sailing vessel, gone down in 1968, and time has taken its toll. What you get here is a scatter, a low-profile spread of ribs and hull plates at 17 metres, making it a comfortable dive for extended bottom time. We love picking through the debris, imagining the final moments of a sailing boat, and watching how the sea has reclaimed her. This site is a fantastic macro hunt, especially on a sunny day when the light penetrates the calmer, shallower water. Look for nudibranchs grazing on the encrusting sponges, and you'll often find conger eels tucked into the larger sections of broken hull. It’s a gentle exploration, well-suited for divers who appreciate history and the quiet beauty of a wreck slowly dissolving back into the seabed. Our favourite part? The surprising bursts of colour from anemones clinging to the rusted metal, a real testament to nature's tenacity. Visibility here can swing, so we’d suggest timing your dive for slack water on a neap tide for the best chance of a clear view.
