LA CYCOGNE (PROBABLY) - Cornwall & Devon

Alright, picture this: you’re dropping down onto La Cygogne, or ‘The Stork’, though we still joke about the “probably” in the name. This isn’t some ancient wooden hull, she went down in 2013 after a serious engine room fire. That relatively recent sinking means she's still very much a ship, not just a pile of scattered plates. At 52 meters, it's a technical dive, no question, but for those with the training, it’s a proper expedition. We love exploring the wheelhouse, it’s still largely intact, and you can almost feel the heat from that fire. The main deck is peppered with trawl gear, nets draped over the structure, creating interesting swim-throughs for crabs and lobsters. Look closely, and you’ll spot plumose anemones waving like tiny flags from every available surface, and often a few inquisitive cuckoo wrasse flitting between the superstructure. It's a surprisingly accessible wreck for its depth, with plenty to see without needing to penetrate far. This is definitely one for the experienced wreck divers who appreciate a modern vessel and the story it tells.
