LCT 1068 - Cornwall & Devon

The LCT 1068 is a proper joy if you’re into shallow wreck diving, or just getting into it. Lying at just 7 metres, it’s basically an open-water swim with a big chunk of history beneath you. We love it for its accessibility; it’s a brilliant site for newer divers to experience a wreck without the anxiety of depth. The landing craft itself is largely broken up, but its sheer size, 57 metres, means there’s plenty of structure to explore. You’ll find big metal plates, twisted girders, and machinery strewn across the seabed. Even without a huge depth, the wreck teems with life. The metalwork is completely encrusted with plumose anemones, their feathery white tentacles waving in the gentle surge. Look closer amongst the rust and you’ll spot gobies darting into crevices, and we’ve often seen dogfish resting on the sand nearby. If you take your time, you can really imagine its past, a D-Day veteran now home to a thriving mini-ecosystem. It’s a great two-tank day out, and makes for some fantastic long bottom times.
