LCT 2426 - Cornwall & Devon

The LCT 2426, resting at 51 metres, isn't just a hunk of metal; it’s a tangible piece of history, frozen in time from D-Day. We love a wreck with a story, and this landing craft sunk during Operation Neptune definitely delivers. Dropping down, you hit the bow first, often with a good current running, so be prepared. The sheer size of it at this depth is impressive, 34 metres long, and those characteristic ramps are still very much there, giving you an immediate sense of its purpose. Our favourite part is the way the wreck has been absolutely smothered in life. Deadman’s fingers cover everything, a thick, white, almost ghostly carpet, interspersed with colourful jewel anemones. Look closely, and you’ll spot conger eels in the deeper crevices, and often, some hefty lobsters peering out. It’s a proper expedition dive, requiring experience with deeper wrecks and often, decompression stops. We’d suggest keeping an eye on the tides for the slack window, as the currents can make it a challenging dive to navigate safely. The historical weight of this wreck, coupled with the dense marine growth, makes it a truly special dive for those with the skills to reach it.
