LCT 777 - Cornwall & Devon

The LCT 777 is a proper piece of history, just shallow enough for anyone to get a good look. We love a wreck that tells a story, and this landing craft, sitting upright at a mere 8 metres, does just that. You can feel the sheer scale of it as you descend, the stern broken, but the rest of the 57-metre hull still remarkably intact. It’s like swimming through a cavern, the deck guns still visible, and the huge ramp at the bow creating a dramatic entrance. What makes it for us, though, isn’t just the history. It's how the marine life has completely taken over. The interior teems with shoals of bib and pollack darting between the metal beams, and those dark corners are often home to grumpy conger eels, their heads poking out from crevices. Look closely, and you’ll find jewel anemones carpeting every surface, a riot of orange and pink against the rust. It’s a photographer’s dream on a sunny day when the light penetrates right into the holds. The LCT 777 is perfect for new wreck divers or anyone who just wants a relaxed dive with plenty to see without worrying about depth or deco. It’s a firm favourite of ours for a reason.
