LE CAP - Cornwall & Devon

Le Cap is one of our favourite wreck dives in the UK, especially for newer wreck enthusiasts or those looking for a relaxed bimble. She’s a motor vessel, sunk back in 1951, hitting a submerged reef before going down properly while under tow. The wreck sits at a comfortable 10 metres, so you get plenty of bottom time, and the light penetration is usually fantastic, painting the old metal in greens and blues. What we love about Le Cap is how accessible she is. The structure is broken but still recognisable, with parts of the hull and machinery providing cover for all sorts of local critters. Expect to find conger eels peering out from gaps, spider crabs scuttling over the plates, and often, schools of pollack hanging just above the deck. The coral growth, particularly the jewel anemones, adds splashes of unexpected colour to the otherwise muted tones of the wreck. It’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, letting you explore without feeling overwhelmed by depth or complexity, and always has something interesting to spot.
