LST 376 - Cornwall & Devon

The LST 376 sits deep, a proper technical dive at 44 metres, but it’s worth the effort. This isn't just a pile of metal; it’s a tangible piece of D-Day history, sunk by a mine just weeks after the landings. We love the scale of this wreck. You can spend a good chunk of your bottom time just circumnavigating the main hull, spotting the remnants of its flat landing deck, imagining tanks rolling off. What makes the LST 376 a standout is how intact it remains, especially for its age and the exposure it gets. Look for the massive propeller and rudder, often draped in dead men's fingers. Inside, if you’re properly trained and equipped for penetration, there are still features to explore, though we’d always suggest sticking to the main cargo hold for a relatively safe swim-through. Keep an eye out for conger eels in every nook and cranny, and big ballan wrasse patrolling the deck. The visibility can be challenging here, as with many UK wrecks, so aim for a slack tide and always carry a good torch. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and don't mind the cold water.
