LST 507 (Bow section) - Cornwall & Devon

We’ve always found the LST 507 a profoundly moving dive, and her bow section is our favourite part. Lying upright in 47 metres, it’s a stark reminder of Operation Tiger. You descend onto the deck, the huge anchors still in place, chains running out into the gloom. Visibility here can be glorious, often 10 metres or more on a good day, letting you really appreciate the scale. The bridge section is gone, but the forward holds are open, revealing the skeletal remains of what was once a troop transport. Sunlight struggles to reach this depth, so it’s always a dive for a torch. Look closely in the darker corners; conger eels are everywhere, peeking out from every nook and cranny. We’ve even seen huge monkfish settled on the sand nearby, perfectly camouflaged. It’s a dive for experienced wreck lovers, comfortable with depth and the solemn atmosphere that comes with diving a war grave.
