MADJOE - Cornwall & Devon

Madjoe, just off the coast, is one of those wrecks that just keeps giving, especially at only 8m deep. This steamship went down in 1941, and time has been kind to her, leaving enough structure to really get a feel for the ship without being intimidating. We love how the hull is draped in green and brown kelp, swaying gently with the surge. You’ll weave through ribs of the wreck, often spotting dogfish tucked into crevices and schools of pollack hanging out above the main debris field. It’s perfect for divers who want to spend ages poking around without worrying about deco, or even for photographers looking for an easy subject in decent light. We’d suggest diving this one at slack high water; the currents here can pick up, making it a bit of a bumpy ride if you miss the window. The viz, when it’s good, can hit 10m, letting you take in a fair chunk of the wreck at once.
