MARIA ANTONETTE - Cornwall & Devon

The Maria Antonette, a trawler that went down in 1969, isn't the biggest wreck in Cornwall, but she’s got character. We love how compact she is, sitting upright at 30m, which makes for a really focused dive. You drop down, and there she is, a neat little vessel, only 11.6m long, now home to all sorts of critters. On a good day, with the visibility pushing 10 metres, you can spend a solid chunk of bottom time just circling her, peering into the open holds and imagining her fishing days. Look closely at the deck plating; it's practically encrusted with jewel anemones, a vibrant splash of orange and pink against the darker steel. We’ve often found dogfish tucked into crevices and ling lurking in the shadows. It’s a proper dive for wreck enthusiasts who appreciate the smaller, more intimate sites rather than vast, sprawling metal. She's also surprisingly intact for her age, offering a clear outline and a tangible sense of her past life.
