MARIE HENRIETTE - Cornwall & Devon

The *Marie Henriette* in Cornwall is a wreck that always delivers. We’re talking about a steamship, and while it’s not some grand intact vessel, what’s left at just 5 metres depth is a fantastic example of how nature reclaims things. You’ll find ribs and plating scattered across the seabed, creating perfect nooks and crannies for lobster, spider crabs, and sometimes even a lurking conger eel. For such a shallow site, it’s surprisingly atmospheric. Sunlight filters through the kelp, dappling the metal, and the sensation of being so close to shore yet immersed in this historical scene is quite unique. It's an easy dive, perfect for extending your bottom time and really getting to know the residents. We’d suggest a calm day with good visibility, as it really enhances the details of the wreck and the marine life. Our favourite spot is usually around the engine block, where the most robust structures remain and tend to attract the biggest lobsters.
