MARSOUIN - Cornwall & Devon

Marsouin, sitting in 41 metres off the Cornish coast, is a proper dive, no doubt about it. We love a wreck with a story, and Marsouin delivers; she was a French sailing vessel captured and sunk by a German U-boat in February 1918. Dropping down, you hit the bow first, a sturdy, upright section that gives you a real sense of her scale. The visibility here can be… moody, let’s say, but on a good day, the light filtering through the green water gives the wreck a ghostly presence. She’s well broken amidships, but the stern is largely intact, with a rudder you can still make out. Look out for the resident conger eels, thick as a diver's thigh, peering from every nook. Dogfish often rest in the sand nearby. We’d suggest a slack water dive, as the currents can whip through here, making the penetration bits a bit of a workout. Definitely one for experienced divers comfortable with deeper wrecks and cooler water.
