Mira - Cornwall & Devon

The MV Mars isn’t your typical deep, dark wreck. Instead, it’s a relatively shallow, accessible wreck dive that we’d consider a fantastic entry point for anyone keen to explore their first proper shipwreck. It’s sitting upright on a sandy bottom, broken into two main sections, making navigation pretty straightforward. We love how the light filters down, illuminating the schools of fusiliers that hang around the structure, often so thick they completely obscure parts of the deck. You’ll find a surprising amount of soft coral growing on the metal, and it’s a great spot for macro life. Look closely in the nooks and crannies – we’ve often spotted Sangi cardinalfish peeking out, and the Nagasaki damsels are always darting about. The engine room is open for exploration if you’re comfortable with a bit of penetration, but even just circling the exterior offers plenty to see. It’s a site that rewards multiple dives; each time we go, we find something new, whether it’s a sleepy humpbacked conch or a particularly large wrasse cruising by. It’s genuinely one of our favourite Andaman wreck dives for its laid-back atmosphere and abundant, colourful life.
