MOLESEY (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

Moseley, off the coast of Cornwall, is one of those wrecks that really sticks with you. Dropping down to 46 metres, she’s a deep dive, definitely one for the experienced wreckies, but what a reward. This old steamship, torpedoed in 1917, now lies in remarkably good condition, a sombre reminder of wartime history. We love nosing around the stern, where the prop shaft is still visible, often covered in dead man’s fingers. There’s a real sense of scale here, the deck collapsing in places but still offering plenty of penetration opportunities for those with the right training and gear. Look for the schools of pollack swirling in the superstructure, and if you’re lucky, a conger eel might just eye you from a dark corner. Visibility can be a bit variable, as it often is in the Channel, so we’d suggest aiming for slack water on a neap tide for the best chance to really appreciate her. It’s a proper dive, a deep journey into a piece of maritime history.
