NORTHERN STAR - Cornwall & Devon

The *Northern Star* offers a proper technical dive, sitting upright in 51 metres, and for those trained for the depth, it’s a rewarding trip. We love how intact the wreck is, a compact fishing vessel that went down after a fire in 1982. There's a real sense of history here, a sudden window into a working boat, now a home for the deep. We’d suggest looking for the bow section first; the lines are still sharp, and you can imagine her cutting through the waves. The prop is still in place, often draped in wrasse, and the deck area, though small, usually has some interesting crabs scuttling about. Visibility at this depth can be variable, but when it’s good, the natural light filtering down creates an almost ethereal glow around the structure. It’s definitely a site for experienced cold water divers, accustomed to longer deco stops, but it’s one of our favourites for a real sense of exploration.
