The Sandfly, or what we strongly suspect is the Sandfly, sits at a very manageable 18 metres near Kelsey Head, making it a good target for those looking for a relaxed wreck dive in Cornwall. Built in 1898, this single-shaft steamship now forms a series of broken plates and ribs, home to plenty of wrasse and an occasional crab peering from under a collapsed bulkhead. We've often found conger eels tucked into the more sheltered sections, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot remnants of the mast, which was once visible from the surface. It’s not a huge wreck, but there’s enough here for a decent rummage, especially for divers keen on exploring a piece of local maritime history without battling strong currents.
