SECURITY (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The *Security* is a proper piece of history, and for us, that's what makes a Cornish wreck so good. This old tug, built in 1904, settled upright after she capsized in 1946, making for a surprisingly intact dive at 30 metres. We love dropping onto her deck, the outline of the bridge still clear, and the whole structure feels very ship-like, not just a pile of plates. You can push into the engine room if you're comfortable with overheads, but even just finning around the exterior, with the props standing proud, gives you a real sense of her working life. Over the years, the wreck has become a busy apartment block for marine life. Look for conger eels peering from every nook, their heads like grizzled old men, and we often find dogfish tucked into crevices. The visibility here can be classic UK green, a shifting canvas of light and shadow that makes the wreck feel even more atmospheric. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration and a good torch, perfect for divers who appreciate the story behind the metal and enjoy a bit of history on their holidays. Just remember, strong tides can run through the area, so picking your slack water window is key for a relaxed dive.
