SHOAL FISHER - Cornwall & Devon

The Shoal Fisher, a motor vessel sunk in 1941, rests at a good 57 metres, making it one for the more experienced wreck divers among us. Built in 1937, her welded construction is still apparent in places, even after all these years on the seabed. We found her engine room particularly interesting, a four-cylinder oil engine still largely in situ, attracting conger eels and squat lobsters. While the depth is significant, the wreck itself is quite intact for her age and location, offering decent penetration for those suitably trained and equipped. It's a proper British wreck dive, dark and often cold, but rewarding for those who appreciate maritime history and the hardy life that makes these structures home.
